This poem attacks the House of Lord: it begins 'The Lords are useless', the people said,'. The second chamber is seen as dominated by the Tory interest - the 'Gilded Chamber' where Lords 'hinder each popular bill'. This poem relates directly to the fight in Westminster for the third reform bill.
