This poem isn't a campaign poem, but instead a poem of domestic life. Nevertheless, there are mentions of Reform in the poem. The speaker sits down to catch up with correspondence on a drizzly day. One of the notes that has been delivered is: "Reform demanded by the nation! / Vote Tagrag and Bogtail'. Although comic, this remark demonstrates the fact that, by 1831, awareness about Reform was growing and the issue was becoming a part of people's daily lives.
