Like, 'The General Fast', this is another poem (published in the same month) which reveals the Loyal Reformers' Gazette's sectarian dimensions.  The poem associates Catholics with pomp, luxury and the Tories, and it casts priests as 'sordid' and 'perverting truth'.  A note is included 'St Rollox, March, 1832' - presumably where and when the poem was written.  St Rollox was once the name for the Woodside area in Glasgow.
