The subtitle for this poem is 'December, Eighteen Hundred and Thirty-Two', making it almost certain that this chapbook was published in 1832, although no date is offered on the front of the chapbook.  The poem reflects on what has happened in 1832 and the first event mentioned is 'Reform', and the speaker notes that 'our civil rights' are now 'restor'd'.  Cholera is also referred to as one of the defining features of 1832.
