A satirical lament, where the Tories express their loss of power on account of the Reform Bill. The poem is preceded by a quote from William Shakespeare's Henry VIII: "Farewell - a long farewell, to all my greatness!". The speaker expresses regret that 'knowledge has now grown so common' and that the Press tells people 'what it should not tell'. The poem also includes a note 'Edinburgh, June, 1832' - presumably where and when the poem was written. The poem previously appeared in the Caledonian Mercury on 11-06-1832.
