This comic poem depicts the great Glasgow Franchise Demonstration from September 1884. The poem begins by telling us that the procession was a 'mile-upon-mile-long procession', but it then goes on to become an advertising poem for the speaker's shop. The poet may be poking fun at the speaker and those who only think about how the Bill will affect 'Number One'.
