Purported to be written by 'a Lady', this poem addresses the plight of Poland following the November Rising of 1831 (an armed uprising against the Russian Empire). It shows women's interest in politics at this time, and a general public interest in the cause of reform across Europe of which the fight for the vote in Britain was just one element.
