This fourteen-verse poem celebrates the martyrs of the Radical War of 1820 (Baird, Hardie and Wilson) and was read by the poet, John Fraser (Johnston) at the unveiling of the Martyrs' Monument in Woodside Cemetery, Paisley. See also David Picken, whose ('Martyr's Grave') adorns the monument. It reinforces the radical lineage which successive generations of reformers drew on for inspiration.
